This newsletter marks my first official foray into the world of journalism, a time when I still believed I would grow up to be the next big truth-teller in the field. Back in 2021, as part of my Introduction to Journalism course, I wrote one hard news and one soft news article, thinking I was one step closer to chasing headlines and changing the world.

But here's the plot twist: the deeper I went, the more I realised how incredibly demanding, layered, and honestly ... stressful the journalism industry is. Turns out, chasing truth means chasing people, deadlines, and fact-checks, all at once.

Still, the first dive gave me a healthy respect for the craft and a foundation in structured as well as factual storytelling. It may not be my current path, but it shaped how I write and think today. And, for that, I am grateful (and feel a little nostalgic).
