Who says literature and layout don't mix? For this assignment of my Web Design course, I designed a literary-themed microsite that brings stories and structure to life. With three core pages (homepage, booklist, and book descriptions), the site focuses on clean visuals, cozy colours, and a user-first experience, inspired by platforms like Goodreads and Project Gutenberg.
Designing without a coding past? Terrifying. But also weirdly addictive. HTML, wireframes, and Google Analytics became my reluctant besties as I figured out how to blend functionality with flair. Responsive layouts, soft hues, and readable fonts were all part of my creative toolkit.
Reflection? I may not be a coder (yet), but this project proved I could still build something that works, looks good, and makes sense. Peers' feedback and user testing helped iron out quirks; one broken link and humble pie slice at a time.
Next chapter? I would love to add a quote-of-the-day section and interactive buttons (heart, like, maybe even a virtual bookmark), but let's not spoil all the surprises just yet.
